Ballet is an excellent way to learn the fundamental principles of all dance. Parents today realise the benefits of early training and its not always all about whether the child wants to become a professional ballet dancer or not. The benefits of dance training will carry over to many areas of their lives. The obvious advantages of good posture, musicality, co-ordination of arms legs and body, elegance and discipline are huge confidence and self esteem builders.
The Baby ballerina classes, from age 4yrs, start at the very beginning and the little pupils are absolutely gorgeous. Yvonne believes that if they have a good grounding in ballet they will find they can master most other styles e.g. jazz/hip hop, contemporary relatively easy. The Baby ballerina classes are on Wednesdays from 3.30pm to 4pm. The junior ballet classes are held at The Bethlehem Hall on Monday afternoons from 3.30pm to 4pm.Classes for 6yr olds and upwards are also on Mondays at the Bethlehem Hall.
The Ballet grades progressively develop the child's technical ability and by Grade 1 Character work (steps from different countries) is added. After Grade 5 Pointe work will be added. From then on the student can choose to go as far as they like in their chosen path. All ballet grades RAD,ISTD,IDTA Intermediate and senior ballet levels are held at The Bethlehem Hall throughout the week.
Modern current contemporary dance technique with strength building and flexibility exercises for senior level students.Repetoire includes learning variations and dances from ballets such as Swan lake, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty etc.Senior students are also encouraged to experiment choreographing dances themselves.
